I actually like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. While this will no doubt destroy my career as a comedy critic, I recommend this movie anyway because, well, it makes me laugh and laughter is the only medicine I can afford these days, not counting Smirnoff's Vodka and Alka-Seltzer. Mmmm...Vodka seltzer.

Although I am perhaps alone among critics in my fondness for Ace Ventura, the movie did go on to make a few hundred million dollars. And, yes, it did spawn a sequel that did not go straight to video. Allegedly a prequel is coming out, but if it is even half as dumb as Dumb and Dumberer, you can count me out.
